Erykah Badu Bag Lady

“Bag Lady” is the first single released from the 2000 Erykah Badu album Mama’s Gun. The song is centered around a woman looking to start fresh but who has too much emotional baggage keeping her distanced from people.
“Bag Lady” proved very successful on the charts, hitting the Billboard Top 10 and peaking at sixth. It also hit the top of the Hip-Hop charts and remained there for a notable seven weeks.
Of particular note in “Bag Lady” was the choice to film the entire music video on a Mini DV recording device - not the best of quality, but a good way to portray more unique and personal experiences. The end result looks rather like a home movie.
